Default Choosing a sex for character creation

Well I suppose I'm starting this thread to see what other people think when creating a new character. Being a male I usually find myself picking male characters partly because I'm a guy and partly because some fools think you're a girl player if you use a female character. In GW though I've found myself picking the female characters over the male characters. I think mainly because I don't like the way males look. I've made a warrior, monk, and necro and I have tosay the males for warrior and monks look utterly disgusting IMO. I think I will remain choosing mostly female characters throughout the life of GW unless they add some more looks and options to character creations.

So I'm curious to know what everyone else likes or thinks when making their character?

I think male warrior armor looks cooler, so I use male for warrior.

A lot of male characters look too feminine.

it depends on what primary class i make

for a warrior or monk or necro i would choose male

for elementalist or mesmer i would choose female

for ranger i would be in a dilemma

I think the Necro Male "hunch" is just plain nasty.. I wouldn't mind trying one if I didn't have to deal with that.

Unfortunately, there are no good male warrior faces. The only decent one is a pretty-boy looking face.

I prefer female for all classes except mesmer.

Cant dig the female mesmer for some reason, so I usually pick the male for mes.

Perhaps unlike some people, I view it as creating unique 'characters', rather than personalities for myself. The gender of the character reflects on the character rather than myself.

As such I have two male characters, and two female characters. My favourite one of all to play is called Rick Barbarus, the self-proclaimed 'Barbarus the Destructor'. He's a brutish warrior/ranger whose sole aim in life is to smash something with a sword, with the help of his trusty pet aptly called 'Lacerator'. Thick as a brick, but just as hard. Very honourable, too.
I also have a male Elementalist, who likes to think he is the master of the universe but... isn't. He'd stab you in the back first chance he got, though, if he thought it'd make him look more god-like.

So it depends on what sort of character I'm going for. The name and basic personality of one of the female characters is drawn straight from a short story I once wrote, for instance.

I used to play only male characters but a while back I was just goofing around & decided to check out my wife's female character. Almost immediately I noticed that ppl treated you better... & no I don't mean ppl hitting on me... tho that does happen, no I mean the actually treat you better if they think you are a female.

I still play my main male character but I doubt I will be making another male character again. I have since created a female character of my own & been playing it. I have only had to deal with pervs 3 times so far but I haven't had to deal with... I would say 75% of the negativity I would be expierencing if I was using a male character.

As a female character I get more respect, as a female character players work harder to give me aid when I need it, as a female character ppl are more willing to listen, as a female character I can enjoy the game more as it was intended to be played, as a female character ppl treat me nicer.

RE the female mesmer.... doh! She's is the hottest female model in the game! Most guys(I spose some women too) think the the FemEle's are the hot stuff....not IMO. The sexy one is the FemMesmer & the cute one is the FemMonk. FemEle's are sl*ts. =D

Okay the last paragraph is meant to be somewhat humourous so plz.... all you FemEle lovers can just relax. =D

they should offer interchangeability of some options

such as hair, you should be able to use any hair from male or female, on either one. sure some are gonna look stupid and just goofy, but there are good several of each that would like acceptable on either.

a female necro with the mohawk is just sexy

So true. Personally, I don't have a problem with either genders of any class except rangers. With them I would have to go femalebecause all of the male faces look like David Bowie. I can't help but think of Labrynth...*shudders*

As a general rule I follow the "Sandler Theorem".

If I have to stare at something's ass for hours on end, it might as well be a cute ass.

Female!

My elementalist/ranger is black with blond hair and massive. It looks ridiculous; I love it.

I like the way most of the female characters look more than most of the males, but I always feel guilty playing the opposite gender.

I'm a male who nearly always plays female chars.

If given a choice I will always prefer to look at women than men. Staring at a guy's ass the whole time I'm playing a videogame - even if it's just a videogame - isn't something I particularly enjoy. (:

(heh, and I wrote that before fully reading the thread and seeing someone else post the exact same reason.)

The only thing I don't like about female chars is occasionally seeing male players check me out. Kinda bizarre. O_o

As a roleplayer and player-player i always choose male chars. Even in solo games i go male, easier to get into the situation of the char because you got the basic aspects of the gender already.
But this is truly more a roleplay aspect and not a gaming aspect, GW is not the best game for actual roleplaying (in-character-acting).

/edit
About that ass/back watching.
For myself, this plays absolute no role in gender picking. I don't really think of "ass" watching while playing. I don't play to look at 3D models made out of polygones. It actually never crossed my mind while playing that i look at the backside of a male necro all the time.
Must be my fullfilled real-life ^^.
